The second in a series of pre-fair talks hosted in the run up to the 2016 edition of Photo London, Photo London Presents explores the relationship between artist and dealer.
This evening will offer the chance to hear Ben Brown (of Ben Brown Fine Arts) speak with one of the artists on his international roster: the leading contemporary photographer Ori Gersht. This unique discussion will provide an insight into the relationships formed between artist and dealer, and will explore how photography is made and sold in view of the commercial art world.
Ben Brown Fine Arts opened their first gallery in London in 2004 and in 2009 expanded internationally to Hong Kong and currently represent some of the world’s leading photographers and artists working today. Ori Gersht is an Israeli photographer, who now lives and works in London. Gersht has shown in group and solo exhibitions worldwide and his practice explores the themes of life, death, violence and beauty.
Photo London 2016 (19-22 May 2016) is a unique festival of photography, centred on a major international photography fair. Running once again in the spectacular and historic grounds of Somerset House, the fair showcases the broad spectrum of photographic practice, from vintage to contemporary. This series of discussions aims to address some of the key themes affecting photography today.
A full programme of talks will also run during Photo London 2016 as part of a larger public programme supported by the LUMA Foundation.
