In the fourth and final of the pre-fair talks hosted in the leading up to the 2016 edition of Photo London, Photo London Presents: The Future of Photography as Mishka Henner discusses his work with Dr Ben Burbridge.
Belgian born Mishka Henner is one of a growing number of artists whose photography work moves beyond the act of taking a picture. Using Google Earth and found images to compose his works Henner explores the rise of camera-less photography and the role of the photographer in an age when satellites have captured every square mile of the planet.
Discussing his own work and the broader world of contemporary photography Henner will examine the changing face of photography and the commercial market in the Instagram age.
Dr Ben Burbridge is a Lecturer in Art History at University of Sussex, and Co-Director of Sussex Centre for the Visual.
Photo London 2016 (19-22 May 2016) is a unique festival of photography, centred on a major international photography fair. Running once again in the spectacular and historic grounds of Somerset House, the fair showcases the broad spectrum of photographic practice, from vintage to contemporary. This series of discussions aims to address some of the key themes affecting photography today.
A full programme of talks will also run during Photo London 2016 as part of a larger public programme supported by the LUMA Foundation.
