Fashion

Somerset House has hosted London Fashion Week since 2009, we are also home to fashion designer Corrie Nielsen, who has a studio in our building. We have programmed several fashion exhibitions in recent years including SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution, which was a collaboration with renowned fashion photographer Nick Knight, Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty, a fashion illustration exhibition, a display highlighting Matthew Williamson’s work in our Courtyard Rooms and 20 Years of Dazed & Confused Magazine in the Terrace Rooms.

FASHION AT SOMERSET HOUSE:
Fashion Revolution Day: Who Made My Clothes
Monday 20 April 2015, 19.00-20.30
The Screening Room, £10.00 / £8.00 concessions

Two years on from the collapse of the Rana Plaza garment factory in Bangladesh, campaigners have taken the question ‘Who makes your clothes?’ to Parliament to establish safer working conditions, and support ethical production. Times have moved on, and those passionate about creating a better fashion industry are demanding significant, lasting change not only in how our clothes are sourced, but also in promoting a more conscious attitude within the design world itself.
