Ground Floor / Entrance

Naomi, 2009, by Nick Knight.

Mirror Room

The Mirror Room invited all who walked through it to survey themselves as an infinite image. Although we think we might know our reflection, we usually only see it through a single pane, so this experience went some way to expose us to the intense scrutiny of an image culture that thrives on fashion and change and is preoccupied with bodies. In forcing us to acknowledge our own image, the room set the viewer in the the reflective surfaces of the world of fashion, but it also returned them to the unease we feel from the attention of vanity and self-interest.
