Your Questions

Skate at Somerset House © Gideon MendelWhat do I need to know before I skate?

Check your tickets
Please check to make sure your tickets have the correct date and time and that you have the correct number of tickets. If the date, time or number of tickets is not what you were expecting please contact Ticketmaster as soon as possible on 0844 847 1520 quoting your booking reference number.

When you arrive
If your tickets have not been posted to you, collect them from the on-site box office.  You can then proceed directly to the ice skating entry point where you will exchange part of your ticket for a wristband which enables you to collect your skates and get onto the ice.  Skate hire is included in your ticket price.

Please arrive at Somerset House at least 20 minutes early so that you have time to get your skates and still enjoy a full hour on the ice.

Children
Children 8 years and under must be accompanied on the ice by an adult.

Is there a cloakroom?
There is an on-site cloakroom - the charge for up to two items is £1. Skaters are reminded that bags are not allowed on the ice.

What should I wear?
Remember the ice rink is open-air and skating continues come rain or shine, so dress warmly. Wet weather clothing is recommended for inclement days. Wear thick socks for extra comfort and don't forget your gloves.

What size boots can I hire?
The smallest skating boot size is a child's size 7, which is a European size 25, and this will fit children aged approximately three to four years. The largest skating boot is a 15, which is a European size 50.

Can I bring my friends to watch?
Spectators are welcome at the ice rink where they can either stand at one of our viewing platforms or keep warm with a hot chocolate or mulled wine in the Skate Café & Bar overlooking the rink.

Want to tell us what you think?
We are keen to hear your comments about your experience of the ice rink - there will be self-completion questionnaires available for you to fill out. If you do not see them, please ask a member of staff.

The serious bit...
Skating is a sport with inherent risks. Patrons skate at their own risk.
