Curated in partnership with Dartmouth Films, Somerset House presents Unorthodocs: a programme of documentaries that have won awards, been screened at international festivals, but fall outside the remit of British television.
The idea for the series came from Christopher Hird, the founder of the documentary producer Dartmouth Films, based at Somerset House.
Hird said: 'There are a lot of great documentaries on television but, with the increased competition for viewers, the range of these films is becomingly increasingly limited. The aim of Unorthodocs is to increase the chances for the public to see these films and to hear from some of the people associated with making them.'
Ranging between the quirky, surreal, poignant and profound, these films reveal documentary-making at its most innovative and imaginative. Each screening will be followed by the chance to hear from a member of the filmmaking team.
Please note: some screenings may contain strong language and themes of an adult nature.
