Please be advised that from 18-21 September inclusive, entrance to the National Open Art, Time: Tattoo Today and A Little History: Nick Cave & Cohorts, 1981-2013 exhibitions will be via the Great Arch entrance on Victoria Embankment only.
Entrance to The Courtauld Gallery will be via the Strand Entrance only.
The remainder of the building including The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, River Terrace, Rizzoli Bookshop and Seamen's Hall will be open to London Fashion Weekend ticket holders only.
Smoking is not permitted inside the buildings. Smoking is permitted on the River Terrace and in The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court.
Non-commercial photography is welcomed in most parts of Somerset House except, for reasons of copyright, in the Seamen's Hall and the King's Barge House. The use of tripods is not permitted for safety reasons. Visitors wishing to take non-flash photography at The Courtauld Gallery should enquire at the admissions desk. Unauthorised wedding photography is not permitted.
The fountains are currently switched on daily 10.00-23.00.
The fountains will be switched off from 18.00 on Sunday 31 August whilst we prepare for and then host London Fashion Week and London Fashion Weekend. They are due to return on Saturday 27 September.
The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is at the heart of Somerset House - a dignified courtyard with a mischievous streak.
The array of jets dance in an orchestrated sequence, with added coloured lighting at night - a refreshing surprise on a warm summer day.
