Pick Me Up 2015: Call for Entries

Pick Me Up, the UK’s first contemporary graphic art festival, will return for its 6th year in April 2015 (exact dates to be announced). Somerset House invites applications from collectives, galleries, studios and agencies wishing to participate and to take up a space in our galleries for the duration of the festival.

This year we are asking applicants to ‘Tell Your Story’. Responses to this can be visual or conceptual, and all ideas should somehow explore process across the graphic arts. We are particularly interested in submissions from emerging and international candidates, in a diverse range of media.

Things to consider in your proposal:

  • The awareness of process in your practice, whether it be graphic design, illustration, sign-writing or other similar discipline;
  • Creative ways to interact with our audience be they creative industry professionals, students or families;
  • Showing a range of new work with varied techniques and technologies.

Applications should be a PDF, no bigger than 3mb, and include the following:

  • A brief description of the installation and any activities or workshops planned, and list any equipment you would use. Please include visuals to indicate how you may occupy the space;
  • Biographical details of the applicants and artists taking part;
  • We have a range of spaces available; please indicate how much space you would ideally need and we will try and accommodate this if your proposal is successful;
  • 100 words stating how your proposal would ‘Tell Your Story’.

Additional information: Please note although we do not charge a hire fee, costs for set-up and production will have to be covered by the participant, and that Somerset House will take 30% + VAT commission on anything sold at the festival.

Please email proposals to exhibitions@somersethouse.org.uk by Monday 1 December 2014. You will be contacted about your application by Monday 22 December 2014.
