The National Art & Design Saturday Club Summer Show
18 June –17 July 2012
This unique exhibition spotlights the potential of more than 400 young people aged 14–16, showcasing their exciting new work in disciplines that range from drawing, painting and sculpture to photography, print-making, ceramics and digital graphics.
For the past year, 14 colleges and universities of art and design around the country have opened their doors every Saturday morning to nurture young talent from over 100 local schools. This Summer Show, now in its second year, is the inspirational result. During the exhibition student artists and designers from the programme will be working in the gallery space.
The whole exhibition is really impressive. People are astounded when they find out that it’s work by 14–16-year-olds. The quality and standard is brilliant and I’m so proud of my students; they’ve come such a long way since they started with us in September and I think their work is fantastic – they should be very proud, too.
