French Prints From Manet to Picasso

Paul Gauguin Nave Nave Fenua, (1894-1895, 1921) © The Samuel Courtauld Trust, Courtauld Institute of Art Gallery, LondonThe Courtauld Gallery

26 June-5 October 2008

Selected to complement the exhibition The Courtauld Cézannes, this special display presents highlights from The Courtauld's collection of 19th and early 20th century prints. It will be a rare opportunity to consider such celebrated painters as Manet, Renoir, Gauguin, Matisse and Picasso in their lesser-known capacity as print-makers. Works on display will include Renoir's delicate etching Reclining female nude, Gauguin's startlingly bold Noa Noa woodblock prints and Matisse's powerful lithograph Seated nude Woman, wearing a tulle blouse.
