Pennethorne's

Open all day, this stylish bar in the New Wing offers an extensive list of drinks: contemporary cocktails, craft beers and wines, plus coffees and teas. You can sit at brass-topped tables, at the marble bar or outside on the terrace. Regular events include a monthly wine masterclass. 

Pennethorne’s is named after Sir James Pennethorne, who designed Somerset House’s New Wing. The architect’s grand tour through France and Italy in the 1820s has inspired the food: sandwiches, salads, soups and stews for lunch; small plates such as beef cheek on toast and smoked mackerel; plus nibbles such as maple-glazed bacon peanuts and gordal olives.
