Somerset House has elegant rooms, sweeping staircases, atmospheric lightwells, picturesque terraces, a spectacular courtyard and all manner of interesting lesser known spaces.

From the rooftops of Somerset House you'll find views across the city, with the Southbank, the London Eye and Westminster to the East and St. Paul’s Cathedral to the West.


East Wing

With its feature fireplaces, wooden floors and large sash windows, the East Wing provides the perfect location for film or television.

Navy Board Rooms

The Navy Board Room, with its grand chandeliers and marble backed fireplaces, offers an impressive backdrop to any shoot.

Nelson & Stamp Stairs

The grand bannister and rotunda style of the Nelson Stairs or the impressive architecture of the Stamp Stairs can offer you a stylish setting for your shoot.

Portico Rooms

The Portico Rooms offer glorious views of both the Southbank and the Edmond. J. Safra Fountain Court, as well as balconies for interior and exterior shooting possibilities.

Seamen’s Hall*

Seamen’s Hall offers a sense of grandeur with its chandeliers, stone floors and large windows. 


West Wing 

With its long corridor and a multitude of rooms featuring wooden floors and classical fireplaces, the West Wing offers a mass of potential for film or television shoots.



The Deadhouse is one of our most atmospheric spaces and it’s not hard to see why. From a haunted space to an underground bunker, this space offers so much versatility without the need for large amounts of production.



River Terrace 

The River Terrace offers views of the Southbank and the River Thames whilst also having the neoclassical architecture of Somerset House as a backdrop.  


The Roof**

The roof has incredible views of the River Thames stretching down to the Houses of Parliament to the West and The Shard to the East. There is also the potential for high level shots of activity in the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court.


Upper Terrace

With our famous cobbles beneath your feet and the beautiful building all around you, the Upper Terrace is the perfect ‘street’ location for your shoot.


The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court

The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is one of the grandest locations in London and so easily transformed into almost any historical era.



The Lightwells are full of character and can be used as the perfect alleyway or street shot.

*Seamen’s Hall is only available for overnight shoots. 
**Roof access is weather dependent and restricted on crew size.
Green rooms are also available upon request and are dependant on availability.
