SOMERSET HOUSE STUDIOS: APPLICATION FORM

SECTION 1: GENERAL INFORMATION

This could be a range of art forms so please list all that might apply to your practice.
Please note who is full time or part time.

SECTION 2: ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PRACTICE

Please provide a short description of your artistic practice (200 words max.)
Please list your track record in your chosen field, including relevant qualifications, awards, collaborations, partnerships, exhibitions / performances / publications, bursaries etc. (200 words max)
Please provide up to 5 key examples that best represent your work or portfolio (urls only). If submitting longer pieces of work (video, text etc.) please indicate the key sections we should not miss as we may not have time to view everything.
Please list two contacts (contact name, phone number, email) who we can contact if you are shortlisted for a space at Somerset House Studios. Contacts must be professionals in your area or an academic contact, arts organisation that has presented your work or a former residency provider.

We have a number of different spaces available at Somerset House Studios as we know that artists have different requirements from their workspace. The majority of our spaces are shared but we do have additional project space available to artists. Please note the price relates to the size of the space, with the largest being the most expensive.

IMPORTANT: All prices listed are exclusive of VAT at 20% Please note that you will be required to pay a deposit of £200 inc. VAT or 1 months’ rent inc. VAT (whichever is the greater sum) to secure your studio.

SECTION 4: YOUR RESIDENCY AT SOMERSET HOUSE STUDIOS

100 words max.
Artists can propose a period of no less than 1 year and no greater than 2.5 years, as per options shown.
How might your artistic practice benefit from being part of a cross disciplinary creative community over this time? (100 words max.)
Please give details of any upcoming projects (confirmed or pending) that are likely to happen over the proposed period of your residency (100 words max.)

SECTION 5: SOMERSET HOUSE STUDIOS PROGRAMME

This could be through skill sharing or hosting social activities, workshops or salons. (Maximum 100 words)
If so, please outline any areas of interest you have or any skills or experience that might be relevant, including experience of working with young people. (Maximum 100 words)

Somerset House Studios is subsidised by Somerset House Trust in the understanding that all artists resident will contribute to Somerset House Trust’s charitable aims and objectives through activities agreed at each artist’s entrance meeting. The activities could include, but are not limited to, contributing to the artistic community programme, public programme, learning programme and being open to connecting to the community of artists and creative enterprises resident at Somerset House Studios.
