Learning Group Booking Terms and Conditions

DEFINITION: Somerset House classifies an educational group as a school, college or university group visiting with 10 or more students, led by a member of staff.

BOOKING: Educational groups should book in advance directly with Somerset House via the website. This includes free self-guided visits of exhibitions or spaces. Failure to comply may result in being refused entry or a full admission fee being charged where applicable.

All self-guided visit and workshop bookings are subject to availability and there are no provisional bookings.

When booking via the website you will receive a confirmation email. Please contact the Learning Team on +44 (0)20 7845 4605 if you do not receive one within 48 hours.

Admission to Somerset House is free, but charges apply for some temporary exhibitions. Please check on the website.

TICKETS: For ticketed exhibitions with an admission fee, those who are 12 and under go free. For school groups of ten and over, tickets are £3.00 per young person and one free group leader ticket is allocated for every ten students. Universities and HE/6th form colleges are eligible for our concession discount.

PAYMENT: All visit bookings must be made on the Somerset House website and paid directly via credit/debit card. The Learning Team can assist if the group or institution does not have a credit card. Payments must be made in advance in a single transaction – cheques are not accepted.

CANCELLATIONS: If cancelled 28 days in advance, educational groups are entitled to a full refund subject to any booking fee.  No refunds will be offered in any other circumstance.

SUPERVISION: Educational groups must have one teacher or tutor for every ten students. Failure to comply may result in the admission being refused. Teachers and tutors must supervise their group during the whole visit.  Failure to supervise students or poor behaviour may result the group being asked to leave.

LUNCH ROOM AND CLOAKROOM: There is no lunch room, but there are a variety of outdoor spaces that can be used, including tables and chairs on the River Terrace.  There are no lockers or storage facilities and Somerset House cannot take responsibility for personal items.  Food and drink is not allowed in the exhibition galleries.

SKETCHING AND PHOTOGRAPHY: Sketching is encouraged, but wet materials are not permitted on site.  Non-commercial photography is allowed for educational purposes unless otherwise stated.  Permission must be sought in advance for any filming and tripods may not be used on-site.  Please email learningbookings@somersethouse.org.uk

SHOP: A maximum of ten students is allowed in the shop at any point. At least one supervising teacher/tutor muse be present with students whilst in the shop.
