London Fields Brewery Bursary

Somerset House Studios is launching the London Fields Brewery Bursary to support an artist pushing the boundaries of established practice. The successful artist will undertake a year-long residency with a free studio at Somerset House, and an in-house artist mentor. Selection will be by a panel comprised of resident artists Nabihah Iqbal and Alexandrina Hemsley (Project O), alongside Somerset House Studios’ Programme Producer Leonara Manyangadze and a London Fields Brewery representative.

Artists of all disciplines are welcome to apply, but must be in the first three years of their practice, over the age of 25 and be able to demonstrate links to east London.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to artists who meet the above criteria and can demonstrate clearly how the opportunity will benefit their practice, paying close attention to the mission of Somerset House Studios in making this case. As part of the application, you will be asked to define a focus for your time at the Studios, which may or may not be project you wish to present here. In line with the requirements of London Fields Brewery, the applicant must not have a history of alcohol abuse.

Please note that whilst the space is private, it is not suitable for noisy or hot work, which should be considered when deciding if the opportunity is suitable for your practice. The Studios have a number of facilitates available to artists on a first come first serve basis for additional charge at a subsidised artist rate. This includes rehearsal space, a recording studio, screening facilitates and meeting space.
