Founded in 1977 the festival’s diverse, dynamic mix of new circus, physical theatre, puppetry, mask, object theatre and live art takes place in prestigious London venues including the Barbican, Jacksons Lane, Soho Theatre, Southbank and Tate Modern. Attracting a very large and international audience of adventurous theatre-goers each year, LIMF brings together a mix of emerging and established companies whose work involves essentially wordless performance.

Supporting its month-long season of UK and London premieres, a substantial programme of film, workshops and discussions runs throughout the festival. Still pushing boundaries after forty years, LIMF productions inspire artists, theatre-makers and general public alike and in recent years have regularly been nominated for Olivier Awards. LIMF artistic directors are Helen Lannaghan and Joseph Seelig

‘The aesthetic outlook of the London International Mime Festival, remains evergreen, varied and vital. The works of physical/visual theatre programmed by its astute co-directors enliven the typically bone-chilling post-holiday doldrums’
