Somerset House Studios Music & Sound Residency

SUPPORTED BY THE YOUNG TALENT FUND

A new residency for experimental music and sound.

Lord Tusk, Ruth Hughes, and Zein Majali have been announced as the recipients of the Music and Sound residency.

The residency is shaped with mentorship from Studios residents Gaika, Nkisi and Paul Purgas. Participating artists will develop a new work over the 15-month programme to be presented at Assembly, the Studios bi-annual series of experimental music and performance which returns in Spring 2024.

WHAT THE RESIDENCIES INCLUDE:

  • Free dedicated shared studio. 
  • £1,000 residency stipend.
  • £3,000 project budget (to include artist fee).
  • 15-month mentorship programme.
  • Access to recording studio and induction to facilities.
  • Dedicated sound engineer for 1 week (timeframe can be broken down). 
  • Focused advice sessions from Studios residents including The Wire magazine.
  • Access to project spaces and facilities: meeting rooms, rehearsal space, screening facilitates, shared social spaces (some subsidised rates apply).
  • Connection to Studios community through social events and networking activities.
  • Support from the Studios team to develop your practice and produce your new work.
  • Artist profile page on the Somerset House website.
  • Support for reasonable adjustments to assist with access requirements.
