After a truly challenging year, why not indulge and celebrate the festive season by joining us in one of the Igloos at Somerset House for an exceptional private dining experience within your very own igloo, set in one of London’s best loved and most iconic open spaces.

Choose from a range of delicious lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus, each perfect for a festive gathering. The range of indulgent dishes have been designed by an award-winning culinary team and are a perfect treat for this festive season.

Book your private igloo for 4-6 guests whilst you can, as this incredible restaurant experience is only running from 03 December 2020 – 01 January 2021.

Dietary requirements can be catered for, please advise the waiting team when ordering and provide information within your booking reservation when prompted.

This special experience is brought to you by Alison Price & Co, part of Eventist Group. Experts in event catering and fine dining, Alison Price has been creating beautiful parties for royalty, heads of state, celebrities and private individuals for almost 40 years.

Reservations are currently available from 03 December 2020 until 01 January 2021.

The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except between Christmas and New Year.

The igloos have a minimum booking size of 4 guests and can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests.

Booking Terms
  • For bookings between 14.00 - 15.30 please add to the booking visit notes if you would like the Lunch or Afternoon Tea menu.
  • Bookings are for 2 hours maximum.
  • Minimum spend:
    For guests arriving at 16.00 or later there will be a £300.00 per igloo spend requirement.
    For guests arriving at 19.00 or later there will be a £350.00 per igloo spend requirement.
    New Year's Eve for both Early and Late Dinner reservations there will be a £500.00 per igloo spend requirement.
    No minimum spend applies to lunch or afternoon tea reservations in the igloos.
  • Credit card details are taken at the time of booking but no payment is charged.
  • Cancelled bookings within 7 days carry a charge of £35 per person for Dinner, £20 per person for Lunch/Afternoon Tea, or if arriving more than 15 minutes after booking time.
  • Bookings are for a minimum of 4 guests. Parties of less than 4 will be charged the per person cancellation charge for each guest fewer than the minimum.
  • A service charge of 12.5% will be added to Igloo bookings and Igloo minimum spends.
Covid Security Information

Igloos at Somerset House is following all government advice to be Covid secure and will update our offering as official guidance evolves. We are closing at 22.00 as mandated by government.

We wish to make it clear – when the topic is business, you can still meet over a fabulous working lunch or dinner without the restriction of the ‘single household rule’, i.e. mixed households are permitted up to six guests. So within our unique igloos, you can enjoy a fabulous lunch or dinner with your colleagues. 

We are implementing the following procedures:


  1. Limiting our overall venue capacity. 

  1. Limiting the allowed number of guests per table. 

  1. Marking physical distancing measurements throughout the venue. 

  1. Keeping all tables physically distanced to current guidelines. 

  1. Our service offering is TABLE SERVICE ONLY for food and drinks to reduce staff contact with guests.

  1. Contactless payment only. 

  1. Managing capacity within the toilet areas – queuing system will be in effect. 

  1. Requiring reservations and booking to allow us to operate full track and trace. 

  1. Setting time limits on bookings. 

  1. Installing public and staff sanitising locations. 

  1. Requiring all staff to wash hands every time they enter the venue, anytime they touch their face, and every 20 minutes. 

  1. Implementing signage throughout the venue to remind guests to physically distance or wear face-coverings when appropriate. 

  1. Operating a one-way traffic system on arrival throughout the venue. 

  1. Dedicated cleaning staff disinfecting common touch points. 

  1. Operating rigorous staff workstation cleaning between shift changeovers. 

  1. We ask all guests to be mindful of maintaining physical distance with staff and other guests and to follow all recommended government advice.

When do Somerset House Igloos open?

The igloos are open generally Wednesday through to Sunday.

Starting from Thursday 03 December 2020 for Dinner to Friday 01 January 2021 (excludes Christmas Day).

If I have queries about my booking, what telephone number can I call?

What do I do if I need to cancel my booking? Is there a penalty?

Credit card details are taken at the time of booking but no payment is charged.

Should you need to cancel your booking within 7 days of your reservation, a cancellation charge of £35 per person for a dinner booking or £20 per person for a lunch or afternoon tea booking will be charged.

Failure to arrive for your booking within 15 minutes of your booking time may also incur this cancellation charge.

Cancellations are through your booking with Open Table.

What happens if lockdown is extended?

We are reliant upon the current government guidance and are working towards the current lockdown ending on the 02 December 2020. However, if there is an extension we will contact you to rearrange your booking. Should you be unable to make a new reservation for an alternative date your booking will be automatically cancelled by us and no payment will be due.


What is the minimum number of guests for an igloo?

The minimum requirement for an igloo is 4 guests and a maximum of 6 – this is inclusive of children.

Is there a minimum spend?

Minimum spend applies for igloo dinner reservations only:
For any reservations after 16.00 for Early Dinner there will be a £300.00 per igloo spend requirement.
For guests arriving after 19.00 or later for Late Dinner there will be a £350.00 per igloo spend requirement.
New Year's Eve for both Early and Late Dinner reservations there will be a £500.00 per igloo spend requirement.

Can I pay by cash?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash payments as we are adhering to Covid safe guidelines.

How long is my booking for?

For all reservations we require your igloo back after 2 hours.

Are the Igloos heated?

Yes, all igloos are heated.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

All of our menus are available on our website. Should you have any specific requirements related to an allergy or intolerance, please specify at the time of your booking and our team will assist you with the menu on the day.

Are children allowed?

Children of all ages are welcome in the igloos. We request you do please count them (babies included) within your final booking size. If a highchair is required please specify at your time of booking. A child’s menu is available on request.

Are animals allowed?

Guide dogs only.

Is there step-free access?

The igloos are not totally step free. We will have ramps for wheelchairs available; please advise when making your booking.
