Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Jordan Rakei’s timeless soulful, jazz and hip-hop driven sound is the perfect start to this year’s Summer Series.

New Zealand born, raised in Australia, but now based in London, Jordan quickly established himself in the UK music scene, lending vocals to tracks by friends including Tom Misch, Disclosure and Loyle Carner while writing a series of highly praised releases. It was 2016’s self-released debut album Cloak that proved he was an artist ready and able to make huge waves with his own sound.

Championed by the likes of The FADER, Evening Standard, Rough Trade and Mixmag, he’s clocked up over 100m Spotify streams, been nominated as #2 album of the year at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, and delivered standout sessions for COLORS, Boiler Room and NPR’s Tiny Desk.

Topping off an incredible 12 months for the young musician, the release of his latest longplayer, Origin was met with widespread acclaim and appeared in numerous best-of-year lists, culminating in triumphant sold out performances at The Roundhouse and BBC6 Music’s Festival.

For the last two years we’ve had incredible gigs from antipodean bands, so you can be sure this rising artist will deliver an unmissable set to launch Summer Series.

Jordan Rakei’s electro-soul is at once unmistakable modern yet infused with old school warmth.”
