Somerset House Studios

Amplify Residency

25 Apr 2019

Somerset House Studios partners with MUTEK and the British Council to host eleven female identifying artists and electronic producers working across the digital arts in Canada, Argentina, Peru and the UK.

Connecting different cultures and experiences, Amplify is a platform for dialogue on access, inclusion and gender equality between local and international industry professionals. Amplify took place for the first time during MUTEK Montréal in 2018, followed by editions at MUTEK in Buenos Aires and Mexico City.

Reconnecting in the UK at Somerset House Studios, eleven artists will become Somerset House Studios residents for a week, culminating in (Inter-), a 2-day programme of installations, presentations, panel discussions, DJs and live performances introducing some of the America’s best talent to the UK for the first time on 7 and 8 June. The residency focuses on deepening understanding of the international digital arts field, as well as reinforcing and expanding this burgeoning network of artists and producers for future projects and collaboration.

The residency is about connecting and networking within the digital arts (sound, image, AR, VR, live sound and image) field in UK and internationally; exploring ways of navigating through it; building confidence and empowering female identifying artists in digital arts and electronic music in order to enlighten, embolden and contribute to the current cultural shift around inclusivity and gender issues; teaming up and working together with new people and consolidating long term peer network relationships. Ultimately, this is a great opportunity to showcase talent from UK and Americas to the public.

Participating artists include Milena Pafundi and Prifma from Argentina, Edna King, x/o, Push 1 stop & Wiklow, RAMZi and Sabrina Ratte from Canada, Ale Hop and Analucia Roeder will represent Peru and from the UK, Maria Bozinovska Jones and RKSS will be taking part.

In partnership with British Council and MUTEK.
