Work from Somerset House

Somerset House is London’s Working Arts Centre, home to over 400 resident organisations from one person start-ups to artist studios and Makerversity, which makes it one of the largest communities of arts and creative enterprises in the UK.

If you work in the Arts or Creative Industries, you can join this extraordinary hive of energy and creativity.

There are many ways to work from Somerset House, and even if you are Working From Home some of the time, having access to an inspirational, mutually supportive building and community, can make the difference personally and professionally.

There are currently over 130 Arts & Creative Enterprises which have offices at Somerset House, alongside freelancers and smaller businesses in our shared workspace Somerset House Exchange.

Our creative community is also home to artists and their teams in Somerset House Studios and creative-tech and maker members of Makerversity.

We offer a range of flexible options to meet the diverse needs of the businesses that fuel the creative economy. You may be a small creative company looking for a full-time home for your team, a larger arts organisation in need of a flexible London base, or a freelance creative entrepreneur searching for a dynamic central-London shared workspace.

We understand the irreplaceable benefits of working alongside other creative people. All our offices and shared workspaces are perfectly adapted to Covid secure working conditions, with natural ventilation and space for social distancing. We also have cafes, meeting rooms, not to mention a year-round cultural programme.

If you’d like to find out more about how you can work in one of the most beautiful and creative spaces that central London has to offer, please let us know. Details of our resident opportunities can we found here, and we’re very interested to have direct conversations to see how we can meet your needs.

We currently have rare and exciting opportunities for creative organisations looking for prime office space in the heart of London. Our options range from a suite of interlinking offices to smaller single rooms, boasting original heritage features, individual office space from 2 people to 30 or a fixed desk rented monthly in a shared office.

Our shared workspace, Somerset House Exchange, offers space for freelancers and micro-l businesses, with a range of memberships to suit your needs...

We look for applicants working in, or in support of, the creative industries, who want to play an active part in our community.

We aim to create an environment that stimulates creative projects and beneficial business for your organisation. Through collaboration and engagement, we encourage residents to work together; directly business to business or with Somerset House Trust.

Tapping into the wealth of talent within our community, we host a calendar of events, which brings together residents to learn new skills, create valuable connections, be inspired or simply unwind after work.  It includes networking events, skills sharing schemes, talks and screenings, and social gatherings. We also strive to work with our community on our diverse and dynamic cultural programme.

We are therefore looking for companies that are willing to contribute ideas, services, and skills to the community, whether it is being a professional mentor or a pub quiz master!

We are always interested in hearing from companies that fit our criteria and wish to be a part of our creative community. If you’d like to see what we have to suit your needs, please complete our enquiry form and a member of the team will be in touch.

To be a resident you:

  • Are actively enthusiastic in sharing ideas and projects with a community of creative businesses
  • Have a UK presence
  • Have carefully read the criteria and feel that you would be a good addition to the community based here
