Rob Akin

Rob Akin

Director, Editor, Director of Photography and Colourist.

Rob Akin is a filmmaker who has etched his presence into the industry by approaching his craft in a unique manner. Like many young directors, he found his entrance point through music. Seizing on small openings by working from the ground up, Rob gained experience on a wide range of film productions and his honest work soon paid dividends, establishing him as a highly touted, signed director and now resident filmmaker at Somerset House.

As a Director, DOP, Editor and Colourist, Rob represents the new wave of filmmakers who break down their own doorways, are multifaceted and look out for those alongside and behind him. His interest in colour and editing gives his work a distinct cohesiveness that indicates a maturity beyond his years, and a distinct focus on process gives his collaborators space and structure.

Rob's work spans a variety of genres and styles, with influences as broad as the work he creates, producing music videos and live performances for artists such as Novelist, this year's Mercury Prize winner Arlo Parks, Rachel Chinouriri and Jorja Smith, with some of his work being broadcast live on national TV in the US and the UK.
