Set in one of central London’s most iconic gig locations, Summer Series at Somerset House with American Express returns from 6 – 16 July 2017 as an established part of London’s festival scene, bringing fans a spectacular line-up of established and emerging artists.

The eleven-night line-up reflects Somerset House’s commitment to showcasing truly world-class talent. Known for curating a mix of both international and homegrown artists, this year’s festival presents headline acts from the UK, US, Jamaica, Mali and Lebanon.

Nine-time Grammy Award winner Norah Jones is set to open this year’s Summer Series at Somerset House for her only London show of 2017, performing a special selection of her best loved tracks plus new and original songs. The following day welcomes fellow Grammy Award winner Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, who weaves hard hitting social commentary with heart pounding reggae beats.

Founded by Jason Swinscoe in 1999, The Cinematic Orchestra are an electronic collective known for their intoxicating grooves and collaborations with artists such as Beck, Sufjan Stevens, Solange and James Blake.

Critically acclaimed electronic duo Goldfrapp will captivate crowds with the latest tracks from their seventh studio album ‘Silver Eye’, out this year. Goldfrapp’s decadent synthpop and technicolour visuals have made them one of the best loved electronic acts in British music. LA natives Warpaint, who have gained a reputation for euphoric live performances, will showcase their signature atmospheric art rock sound.

Free-thinking keyboardist Robert Glasper is set to showcase his latest pop-laced jazz project, The Robert Glasper Experiment. Glasper has dominated the Jazz charts, won two Grammy Awards, and recorded with the likes of Mos Def, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Erykah Badu.

The mesmerising Birdy will be the youngest on the line-up, having bewitched the nation with her debut album five years ago at just 14, whilst firm festival favourites Foster The People are set to bring their indie pop anthems to Somerset House as a UK exclusive performance this year.

South London singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tom Misch will be making his Summer Series debut, joined by some very special guests. The 21-year-old has gone from bedroom beat maker to one of the UK’s most hotly tipped new acts.

Mashrou' Leila are a five-strong indie band from Beirut who are stirring a musical rebellion in the Middle East with a blend of melancholic ballads and raucous anthems. Their potent mix of pop and politics is changing the tune of Arab music and gaining them new fans worldwide. Finally, Malian four-piece Songhoy Blues will close this year’s Summer Series. The pioneers of desert punk blues return as a headline act this year, following a popular support slot at the festival in 2015.

Somerset House is a key cultural destination in London with a reputation for its distinctive exhibitions and outdoor events. This year’s finely curated programme further establishes Summer Series at Somerset House as one of London’s must-see summer festivals.
