Inspire yourself and your families with these free hands on workshops

The Association of Illustrators (The AOI), is delighted to present the Walker Books Family programme alongside the World Illustration Awards Exhibition.

Two free family workshops will take place at Somerset House. Leading illustrators Jane Porter and Anuska Alepuz will read from their books, enchant visitors with live drawing and give some top tips for work of their own.

Ren Renwick Managing Director of the AOI says: “We are delighted to be working with Walker Books, and two fantastic illustrators to inspire the next generation. The sessions are not just a great experience for families – they are a brilliant way to seed the imaginations of illustrators of the future.”

Deirdre McDermott, Picture Book Publisher and Creative Director of Walker Books, says: “Walker Books are thrilled to be working with the AOI again for this year’s prestigious World Illustration Awards. The sessions are such a fantastic way to encourage creativity and inspiration in little ones, and we’re delighted to be involved in sparking that imagination.”

The World Illustration Awards Exhibition, presented by the AOI with the Directory of Illustration, returns Somerset House from 6-20 June.

The exhibition, held in Somerset House’s Embankment Galleries, is the largest World Illustration Awards show to date, showcasing the full shortlist of 200 works. It explores what illustration means today, how it shapes our world and understanding and how the art form itself is changing. At once global and personal, visitors can expect to be inspired by this diverse, engaging exhibition. This annual survey of the best illustration globally will explore where illustration is now, where it is heading in the future, and showcase the legends of the industry who continue to inspire new generations of artists.

The World Illustration Awards 2018 Exhibition will tour the UK throughout the year.
