LaTurbo Avedon

Artist and resident of the Internet.

Without a real world referent, LaTurbo is a digital manifestation of a person that has never existed outside of a computer. Avedon’s digital sculptures and environments disregard the lack of physicality, and instead emphasise the practice of virtual authorship. She curates and designs Panther Modern, a file-based exhibition space that encourages artists to create site-specific installations for the internet.

"As far as we’re concerned, she exists entirely in the virtual spaces between our computers, consoles, and browsers. This is because LaTurbo Avedon, the artist, is a Second Life avatar. She doesn’t have a Second Life avatar; she, the artist, is one. Unlike other avatars, though, she is not bound to one virtual world. She’s in any digital space that will accommodate her."

As a virtual resident, LaTurbo is exploring how remote and nonphysical creators interface and exchange in her relations with the studio community. She will also be sharing her skills in 3D modelling and virtual world building with her residency peers.
