Sleepiness Phase

From the Intuitive Phase, the body experiences a smooth transition into the Sleepiness Phase. Body temperature drops, the hormone melatonin sets in, which leads to a decrease in alertness. At a duration of around two to three hours, this phase coincides with the biological processes of increased sleepiness and suppressed bowel movements, leading to the sleep phase. In terms of light, the sleepiness phase is associated with a dimmed light of a very low lux rate consisting of red-orange hues. Ideal posture is sitting or lying.

Fri 17.00 to 00.00 & Sat 09.00 to 17.00 | Sleep Installation, Savoir Beds

Fri 19.00 to 20.00 | Meditative Workshop – Cellumonials (have a gut time), Baum & Leahy
More than half of the cells in your body are microbial. To these trillions of bacteria, archaea, fungi and protozoa your body is their home. How is time and space experienced from the depths of your gut? Comparative to our own, bacterial lifespans are short – ranging from minutes to a few hours. Yet these organisms live longer outside of the individual framework of lifetimes as we know them, as singular cells grow into multitudes by dividing into new bodies.

In a series of Cellumonials (cellular ceremonies) Baum & Leahy invite you to connect with your cohabiting microbes and understand your body as an ecosystem of constant lifecycles. Collective sensory reorientation masks allow you to pause visual stimuli, have a gut time and delve deep into the microbial cycles of your body, to connect with the invisible microscopic landscapes living within and around you.

Fri 21.30 to 23.30 Performance – 50lx - Sonic Exploration, Project Instrumental + borderlandstate // best kisser in la
50lx is a sonic exploration featuring amplified strings and electronics, informed by uchronic freedom and nuanced by the Sleepiness Phase of the human circadian rhythm. It brings an analogue world of live, acoustic performance to a digital world in which the production process distils extensive synthesised signals to their purest form.
