Ruben Östlund: In Conversation

Behind the Screen

Wed 16 Aug 2017
Screening Room
South Wing

A chance to meet the director responsible for some of the most provocative and immaculately crafted films of the 21st century, Ruben Östlund.

Since the release of his second feature Involuntary in 2008, Östlund has built a reputation as a creator of intricate moral comedies that explore human foibles and fallibility. His 2015 BAFTA nominee Force Majeure, following a family ski-trip that goes disastrously ‘off-piste’, brought his work to a wider audience, and now his new film The Square cements his position as one of Europe’s most exciting directors, having won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Ruben joins us for this special on-stage interview on the night of The Square’s UK premiere at Somerset House.

Doors open for evening events at 18.30 for a complimentary drink in the Behind the Screen bar, accessed from the River Terrace entrance via Waterloo Bridge. Talks start at 19.00 and last approximately one hour.

Behind the Screen tickets give access to Behind the Screen events only. Tickets for film screenings must be purchased separately. In conjunction with a purchased ticket to Film4 Summer Screen, your Behind the Screen ticket gives you access to a reserved space in the courtyard for the main film.
