Creative Careers & Skills

The Creative Careers programme at Somerset House offers networking, advice, fairly paid work placements and skills development to young people of all backgrounds in the first years of their career.

The programme is organised into three strands:

Our pioneering Creative Careers Academy  offers paid work placements to people aged 18-25.  The intention is to bring new talent into creative organisations and to offer participants credible experience and valuable insight into what makes creative organisations tick.

Open Skill Events are workshops and talks that focus on the core skills needed in the creative industries. The events aim to tap into the latest thinking in the sector and are a great way to get the inside track on skills that are in high demand.

The Creative Job Studio provides monthly drop-in networking and advice to  young people emerging into industry.  Activities range from face-to-face networking and screenings, to artistic events and podcasts.  Events seek to demystify roles in industry and to provide accurate advice.  The Creative Job Studio is produced in partnership with employability charity The Creative Society
