A young woman is on the run through Berlin in this thriller that’s shot in a single take and unfolds on-screen in real-time, without cuts.

Duration 138 mins
German with English subtitles

An exciting and immersive life-or-death love story that takes you on a breathless late-night adventure through the streets of Berlin. From the moment we meet Victoria herself in a nightclub right the way through to the unpredictable final scenes, this one-of-a-kind experience plays out in real-time without any cuts – a high-wire act of filmmaking bravado shot in one single, unbroken take.

German director Sebastian Schipper and cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grovlen are the people responsible for pulling off this dazzling feat, although the actors – led by young Spanish star Laia Costa – must also stay in-character as the non-stop camera follows Victoria’s race to stay ahead of the law after she and her new friends pull off a risky robbery. With an atmospheric soundtrack by composer/musician Nils Frahm, this is very much a nocturnal urban experience and a film that has to be seen on the big-screen to feel the full impact of its unique style. A wild and relentless ride; once you’re on there’s literally no way to get off.
