Channel is Somerset House’s new curated online space for art, ideas and the artistic process.
Somerset House are delighted to announce that the Embankment Galleries will be available for private hire for an exclusive period from 23rd March – 30th April 2020.
Our largest indoor space has so much potential and can host up to 800 standing, 340 for dinner, 320 theatre and 192 on one stunning long table.
Originally a barrel-vaulted barge house linked directly to the Thames, the Embankment Galleries are now our most modern and adaptable exhibition space. The mezzanine level is an impressive space for large-scale dinners and receptions, while the Galleries offer a spectacular space for press days.
Currently home to our major exhibition 24/7: A Wake Up Call For Our Non-Stop World, the Embankment Galleries have also been the perfect backdrop for many large scale events this year – including Uniqlo’s extraordinary exhibition over September 2019 London Fashion Week.
Uniqlo’s exhibition The Art and Science of LifeWear: New Form Follows Function delved into the boundary-pushing technology behind the fashion brand’s simple, yet high-quality clothing. The large-scale immersive and experiential event showcased the art, science and craftsmanship of Uniqlo’s LifeWear range, clothing designed with life’s needs in mind, setting new standards for what clothing can be. The event demonstrated the Embankment Galleries true potential and proved that anything is possible within this space.
Made up of one expansive mezzanine level, two large gallery spaces, a collection of back galleries and an intimate studio space, with entrances directly from Victoria Embankment or access via the iconic Edmond J Safra Fountain Court – event organisers have the opportunity to use the space to their advantage and make the space their own.
