The 50th anniversary of a 1960s British cinema icon: a mystery following a fashion photographer through a swinging London where nothing is what it seems.

Certificate 15
Duration 111 mins

You may never believe your eyes again after witnessing this icon of 1960s cinema, a hypnotic mystery that follows a trendy fashion photographer as he’s drawn into a world where nothing is quite what it seems - including what he captures with his own camera. Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni, one of the decade’s most stylish and innovative filmmakers, creates a portrait of modern alienation with a ‘swinging London’ backdrop – you’re sure to recognise some of the locations even in their ‘60s disguise.

However, nothing can ruffle the jaded surface of David Hemmings’ shutterbug antihero, and that includes the beautiful models who visit his studio, the bustling nightlife, the riotous rock gigs (The Yardbirds!), a glamorous Vanessa Redgrave and a suspected murder in an eerily quiet South London park. The harder you search for answers, the deeper you’ll be sucked into Antonioni’s seductively confounding classic - although you can also simply enjoy it as a colourful and sexy time-capsule. Either way, don’t miss this special 50th anniversary celebration of a film that never loses its cool.
