Somerset House Donor Charter

At Somerset House, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to maintain and renew our historic building, produce an extensive and diverse cultural programme, nurture artistic excellence and provide opportunities for the next generation of young people with creative potential. We welcome support from individuals, trusts and foundations and organisations and are dedicated to treating our donors with the highest level of care and respect.

We will:

  • Acknowledge your gift swiftly, handle it responsibly and apply it to the purpose for which we requested it
  • Respect your privacy and will only release details of you or your gift with your consent or if disclosure is required by law
  • Keep you informed about the specific project that you are supporting
  • Comply with all domestic and international legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and adhere to the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice
  • Respond to any correspondence in a timely manner

How your donation will be used:

  • All donations, when undesignated, will be used for such purposes as Somerset House Trust judges appropriate in support of Somerset House’s charitable objects
  • Where the gift is restricted, Somerset House Trust will apply the gift to the purpose originally intended

In order to foster relationships with potential donors, we will invite people who we think might be interested in joining the Somerset House Supporters’ Court or in becoming donors to Somerset House to a variety of special events. After attending an initial event, we will always ask you whether you would like to continue to be invited to Somerset House and that you are being invited as a prospective donor.

We will always respect your decision to opt out of further communications from us.
