Sustainability at Skate
We work hard to minimise our environmental impact across everything we do at Somerset House, and SKATE is no exception.
In 2025, we reduced SKATE's electricity consumption by 20% through investment in modernised chiller technology. To reduce emissions whilst installing SKATE, we now build fewer temporary structures which, in turn, helps to lower overall energy use and minimises our environmental footprint. Throughout the SKATE season, we closely monitor energy, water and waste consumption to identify further opportunities for improvement, and we remain committed to implementing practical measures that reduce our environmental footprint wherever possible
