Since its inception, 1-54 has established itself as a leading voice in the global discussion on contemporary African art and has been at the forefront of the African art market with annual editions across three continents.
Alongside the fair's contemporary programme, its 14th consecutive London edition and most significant evolution to date will introduce a spotlight devoted to Modernist artists from Africa and its diaspora. This section will be brought to life through curated booth presentations and a dedicated 1-54 Presents exhibition, West Wind, curated by South African-Portuguese art historian and visual studies scholar Dr. Nancy Dantas.
Once again, 1-54 will also stage a monumental installation in the imposing backdrop of Somerset House's Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, providing an artist with the unprecedented opportunity to present a large-scale installation in a historic public setting during the fair.
