1-54 - Earthworks & Courtyard Events
At this year's 1-54, the heart of the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is transformed by Earthworks, a large-scale social sculpture by artist artist Mónica de Miranda.
Dates | 16–19 Oct 2025 |
Space | Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court |
Price | Free |
Woven together from themes of ecology, collective memory, and decolonial thought, Earthworks reimagines the public space as a living, collective, and sensory archive. The site-specific project—made up of dynamic stage-sculptures and lush vertical gardens—is inspired by Achille Mbembe’s concept of terrestrial communities, where human and non-human life are intertwined in shared survival. It transcends soil and plant life to become a vibrant archive of resistance.
The installation itself is just the beginning. The courtyard will be the dynamic setting for a series of special events, turning this space into an evolving ecosystem of art and thought. Join us for a series of events including music and poetry performances and a talk, all hosted right within this unique environment.
