A Bird Named Mansour is grounded in the unsettling reality of today’s world—a world filled with chaos, where countless children are forced to flee their homes in search of safety. Inspired by birds—symbols of freedom and the yearning to fly towards a peaceful future—the film speaks to the simple yet profound desire to live together in harmony.

Filmed at Somerset House, this emotional dance film by Dutch choreographer Jordy Dik is a protest of love, created in collaboration with thirteen dancers from Compagnie Tiuri (The Netherlands) and Shechter II 2024 dancers - critically acclaimed young company of residents Hofesh Shechter Company.

Hofesh Shechter Company gratefully received support towards the delivery of Shechter II 2024. This included core funding from John Ellerman Foundation and The Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation and project funding from Jerwood Foundation towards Jerwood 🖤 SII – a new Continued Professional Development offer to the dancers, which included their creation time with Jordy Dik and Compagnie Tiuri.

Hofesh Shechter Company is supported using public funding through Arts Council England and benefits from the support of BNP Paribas Foundation for the development of its projects.
