Discover.film will open its vaults to screen a ‘tutti-frutti” selection of some of the best award-winning short film from around the world. 

There will be an opportunity to watch anything from documentaries, drama and comedy to animation, horror and experimental - all under ten minutes long. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to vote for the Discover.film Somerset House Screening award - which will go to the most popular film voted for by the event audience. Discover.film will also be hosting a series of informal lunch time discussion with emerging and experienced filmmakers where questions are definitely encouraged. 

Details of their app, and their upcoming film festival together with information on how to enter and how to become eligible for The Craghoppes Film Prize (which awards £34,000 annually) will be all available, along with handouts with practical advice for short filmmakers by award winning Directors. Come and discover.film.

DISCOVER THE SOUND OF FILM

Since cinema began, films have gone hand-in-hand with music. Many of the most memorable moments in film are supported by the soundtrack, and conversely many unforgettable music videos include great visuals which sent a track stratospheric. Discover.film will host an interactive day of informal discussions, screenings, demonstrations and live performances from a variety of professionals working in both film and music with each guest intrinsically linked. Highlights include a special live performance from British singer and songwriter Sasha Keable who will explain the importance of film in her latest single release, and UK Music Video Awards’ director of the year, Hector Dockrill, who will discuss his inspirations through screening some of his music videos.

DISCOVER STORYTELLING

Discover.film has been shaking up the entertainment establishment with cutting edge short film content and along the way has forged relationships with some of the finest story-tellers in the country. A panel of creatives from writing, music, tv and film will reveal their secrets on creating a powerful narrative and answer audience questions. Chair of the panel is Jaine Green, the award-winning UK documentary maker and Head of Content at Discover.film. After the talk there will be a chance to talk one-on-one with the panel, so bring your stories and the Discover.film experts will help you make them zing.
