Born in Lima, Peru, Maria Chávez is an abstract turntablist, sound artist and DJ.

Accidents, coincidence and failures are themes that unite her sound sculptures, installations and other works with her solo turntable performance practice.

Maria will be performing a solo turntable show, followed by Q&A from the audience and the chance to try out Maria's method's yourself.

Maria is the author of OF TECHNIQUE: Chance Procedures on Turntable, a book of essays and illustrations that guide the novice turntablist to explore the world of needles and vinyl through the lens of deterioration, destruction and the unexpected.

Doors for this event will open at 18.30. The performance will begin at 19.00. Drinks will be available from the bar next to the entrance to the New Wing of Somerset House.

The venue is located on the ground floor of Somerset House and is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet. If you have any other access requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.
