SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution

17 Sep – 23 Dec 2009

A major exhibition by the award winning fashion website SHOWstudio.com, led by Nick Knight, one of the world's most influential fashion image makers.

Collaborating with high profile photographers, artists, writers, designers and cultural figures, SHOWstudio has forged a revolution in the way fashion is communicated. SHOWstudio has continally championed fashion film as a wholly new form of experiencing fashion in the digital age.

The exhibition brought SHOWstudio to Somerset House with a programme of live events, taking over the Embankment Galleries and allowing audiences to get right inside the world of fashion. Highlights included:

Regular live events including fashion shoots by Nick Knight and other leading photographers, laying bare the process of fashion image making.

A programme of new fashion films, specially commissioned by SHOWstudio.

Multi-media installations of significant SHOWstudio collaborations including Peter Saville, Liberty Ross, Heston Blumenthal, Gareth Pugh, Simon Foxton and Julie Verhoeven.

SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution was a collaboration between Somerset House Exhibitions Curator Claire Catterall, Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio and Professor Penny Martin, Rootstein Hopkins Chair of Fashion Imagery at the London School of Fashion. The exhibition was designed by Ab Rogers with graphics by Praline.
