Meet Saul Nash

Saul Nash creates contemporary technical garments that are designed for the liberation of movement. Grounded in the ethos of community, he works with a cast of dancers who invigorate an essence of family whilst delving deeper into exploring the relationship between performance and technical menswear. An understanding of the complexities and subtleties of masculinity are informed by Nash’s background as a self-taught dancer and choreographer growing up in London.

Coming from the unconventional route of performance having practiced for many years as a dancer after graduating from a BA in Performance Design at Central Saint Martins, Saul Nash received a scholarship to the eminent MA in Menswear at the Royal College of Art in 2018. Inspired by the kinetic body and the subversion of sportswear via the memories of the different people he grew up around in London, Nash’s practice extends to worn garments and their ability to liberate an individual’s identity.

Since founding his eponymous label, Nash continues to manoeuvre between performance, dance and fashion. Whilst his brand is dedicated to creating garments for movement, Nash often showcases his clothing in self or co-choreographed performances which best demonstrate how they are intended to move. His choreographic work extends across other areas of fashion and music, working on movement and videos for other brands and musicians including Neneh Cherry, Bianca Saunders and Lafawndah.

Creating fluid menswear that compromises neither function nor style, relaxed silhouettes and mesh fabrics enable movement and flow while asymmetric hems and monochromatic colorways highlight the designer’s focus on expression. Staying loyal to his roots, all limited edition styles are produced by local North East London manufacturers. Saul Nash’s curated collections foreground liberation and movement, offering a new definition of technical streetwear.
