Inside the Studios with Tyreis Holder
Dazed x Somerset House Studios
"Textiles are a language – woven pick by pick, like words formed letter by letter, like care placed gently, day by day" – Tyreis Holder.
This month, we got a sneak peek into Tyreis Holder’s studio space at Somerset House Studios, as part of the Inside the Studios series – an exclusive collaboration between Somerset House and Dazed spotlighting the artists shaping culture from the inside out.
Tyreis is a visual artist, poet and spatial designer whose practice is rooted in lived experience, Caribbean heritage and a deep engagement with community and care. Their multidisciplinary work spans textile, installation, performance and language – often using craft-based processes to explore identity, healing and collective resilience.
As a resident of Somerset House Studios, Tyreis is part of a dynamic network of early to mid-career artists pushing boundaries across music, art, technology and performance. The Studios provide space, support and a collaborative environment for risk-taking and experimentation, at the heart of one of London’s most iconic creative spaces.
Tyreis is also one of five artists selected for Talent 25 – Somerset House’s new creative pathway designed to champion artists from underrepresented backgrounds working at the intersection of culture and social change. The year-long programme offers mentoring, profile-raising and tailored support to help shape bold new directions in contemporary culture.
Through this studio visit, we get a glimpse into Tyreis’ process, materials and philosophy – revealing the power of artistic practice to challenge, connect and transform.
This feature is part of an ongoing series with Dazed, offering rare access to the studio spaces of Somerset House Studios residents. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes moments with the artists shaping the future of culture.
