The Amateurs Club is currently part of Forest Fringe's Cinematophilia - a 18 month long project in which the artists of Forest Fringe will teach themselves how to make a feature film, and then make one.
Krista Burāne is a Latvian artist and filmmaker who creates interdisciplinary projects that switch between various cultural areas - documentaries, theatre, photography and education. As a director, scriptwriter, editor, teacher and photographer, Krista believes that artworks must become an event in people's lives, create new experiences, wake up emotions and thoughts about who and why we are.
Krista will be exploring the relationship between fictional and documentary filmmaking through discussion of her films The Fairytale of Empty Space (winner of the National Film Award for best documentary and best animation 2017) and Māra (nominated for National Film Award for best documentary and best director).
The Amateurs Club is a free DIY film school, hosted by Somerset House Studios and Forest Fringe, featuring each month a different professional from the world of film.
The work of our artists is valuable and our events cost money to produce, but we also want them to be as accessible as possible. Therefore, we offer you the opportunity to pay what you can for this event.
