In this session, Founder and Director of Metal & Water, Nancy May Roberts, shares what it means to sustain and grow a performance practice within a landscape of permanent flux. Through case studies of past projects, Nancy unpacks the process of developing dance and performance work from independent art spaces to new commercial platforms.
Artists will gain insights into commissioning processes, funding structures and how to negotiate institutional systems in the current cultural landscape. With real-world examples serving as a jumping-off point to spark discussion, artists are invited to contribute and reflect in an informal and open setting, leaving with tangible takeaways.
