Electronic musician and dance artist NSDOS hosts an introductory workshop focused on making beats and electronic music with Orca, a flexible live coding environment designed to quickly create music sequencers.

Part of Mutant Promise's digital programme with Somerset House Studios, this workshop is open to all levels with no prior skills in programming required. Participants are required to bring a laptop with Orca installed on it, a pair of headphones and an audio software of choice installed like Ableton, Renoise, VCV Rack or SuperCollider.

You can download Orca here.

We will be in touch with registered participants for further workshop details and links to the online meeting room. Please get in touch with Mutant Promise if you have any questions.

The workshop is open to all backgrounds. We especially encourage women and non-binary participants to take part in the workshop.

About the Artists

Paris-based NSDOS - aka Kirikoo Des – is a hybrid artist who works simultaneously on music, dance, digital art, and builds his own instruments. After studying dance, Des felt the need to create his own sound in order to explore movement. Unrestrained by existing technological tools and softwares, he prefers creating his own mediums: futurist instruments made of old audio converters (carte son), Gameboy emulators, pieces of metal dismantled and weld together giving form to surreal machines.

Mutant Promise is a programming, producing and artist booking platform supporting the work of musicians who combine a DIY and workshop practice with their performance, composition and release work.
