If you’re restless band leader Robert Glasper you score a Miles Davis film, play keys on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly and re-set what’s possible with the Experiment.

On their latest LP ArtScience, the Robert Glasper Experiment channels everything that's vibrant about music, with tracks rooted in jazz and R&B yet impossible to peg, throwing together unexpected moments of funk, soul, rock, hip-hop, blues, disco, electronic and pop. While the first two Grammy winning albums featured cameos, this is the first Experiment LP where all the members — saxophonist Casey Benjamin, bassist Burniss Travis II, drummer Justin Tyson, guitarist Mike Severson and Glasper himself — write, produce and sing, making it their most fully realised project to date and a live band you can’t afford to miss.

+ Special guests Laura Mvula, Omar & LaSharVu

Birmingham-born soul sensation Laura Mvula joins us once again following her captivating headline performance last year. British soul pioneer Omar gives us a taste of his collaboration featuring Robert Glasper on keys, and and there’s glorious harmonies and uplifting soul from LaSharVu - LaDonna Harley Peters, Sharlene Hector and Vula Malinga - three of the country's most respected vocalists and the go-to vocal powerhouse trio for artists including Basement Jaxx, Sam Smith, Mary J Blige, Lalah Hathaway, Gregory Porter and Emeli Sandé.

It's a short list of jazz pianists who have the wherewithal to drop a J Dilla reference into a Thelonious Monk cover but not many jazz pianists are Robert Glasper.
