Palmer | Sutherland will bring together impressions of all bar one of Samuel Palmer’s prints and an astonishing twenty impressions of Graham Sutherland’s early prints - the largest group to have been exhibited for sale since 1993. This exhibition marks the centenary of the V&A’s seminal 1926 Samuel Palmer exhibition that established the Victorian artist’s reputation amongst Modern British artists. It offers a rare opportunity to assess each artist’s work side by side to see the generative force Palmer had on Sutherland.

Much like when Palmer’s work was rediscovered in 1926, we hope Sutherland’s early prints will be a revelation to those who did not see the last significant gathering of them, more than thirty years ago.
