In this interactive workshop, felix taylor invites you to explore how musical scores can become tools for creative expression beyond traditional notation. Over two immersive hours, felix will introduce participants to the world of ‘graphic scores’ – to develop and score musical ideas that might exist outside of traditional composition.
The session begins with a series of deep listening exercises designed to tune the ear and expand how you hear music. You’ll respond to your own musical instincts and develop the ability to listen with a composer’s ear.
We’ll then move into a group discussion around musical scores, which will gently evolve into a collaborative performance, as participants brings to life scores written by felix himself.
From there, you’ll step into the role of composer-performer, creating and performing their own graphic scores inspired by the radical imagination of experimental composers and avant-garde musicians.
Together, the evening invites you to rethink what composition can be: playful, visual, and collective. This session is perfect for musicians, sound artists, performers, and anyone curious about sound as a creative medium!
As always, free drinks and food provided by Butch Salads will be available throughout the evening.
