GAIKA

Experimental rapper, producer, visual and performance artist.

Grime, dancehall, and R&B-inflected songs push radical political commentary about the racial, economic, and social inequalities in the UK and abroad.

GAIKA, SECURITY, a Short Film.

Gaika’s debut album Basic Volume (2018) was praised by The Guardian as ‘a terrifically impressive and populist debut’. More recent albums and EPs include Drift (2023), War Island OST (2022) and Seguridad (2020). His 2018 work System, a sculpture presented in collaboration with Boiler Room and Somerset House Studios, considered the history of sound system culture, exploring media perceptions of Carnival. His audiovisual installation ZEMEL (2022) was included in British Art Show 9, exhibited at the Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre. Gaika is currently signed by Big Dada.

GAIKA takes the sonic textures of the streets and crafts them into brand new, glistening shapes.
