What does it take to build a world?
A short documentary following Somerset House Studios artist Jenkin van Zyl during the making of Enclosure, their newest film work that explores what happens when technological progress outpaces understanding. Viewers are given intimate insight into how one of the artist's fantastical universes is activated and brought to life - from an idea into a reality.
The artist reflects on their methodologies, inspirations, and ideas, as they step into making their most ambitious work to date. Character vignettes spotlight key members of the cast and crew throughout, demonstrating ‘the village’ needed to pull together one of van Zyl’s otherworldly visions. From rehearsals to shoot days, it offers a rare view of the work taking shape.
