Part of WONDER: Why We Believe in Magic
Drawing on Chinese incense-making traditions and the I Ching — an ancient philosophy that understands life as a continual process of change, balance and relation — participants will hand-shape a personal incense bead from plant-based ingredients associated with the Chinese Five Elements.
Through intention-setting and meditative energy casting, each bead is transformed into a small “cosmic seed”: a material prompt to reflect on what is shifting, emerging or needing care. Infused with natural incense, the finished beads release a subtle, lasting scent.
The workshop invites visitors to encounter magic as an attentive, shared practice of noticing transformation. It offers a slow, accessible space to connect inner reflection, natural materials and collective ritual through making.
